We as humans find pleasurable experiences valuable and need to actively seek them out as a way to recover from the stressful situations and responsibilities life brings. Joy, comfort, relief, peace, connection, reward; these are just a few of the reasons that answer the question “Why massage?”. What I’ve learned in my 12 years of being a licensed massage therapist is that I love being able to provide the wonderful sensory experience of professional, skilled touch to my clients. Not as a way to “fix” them but to support them in finding whatever it is they are looking for in seeking out a pleasurable experience. Sometimes a session will involve touch with clinical intentions like when helping to reduce aches and pains or increasing mobility. But it always comes back to using my creativity, compassion and professionalism to deliver a delightful sensory experience whether it be for relaxation or therapeutic healing.
